Privacy Policy
SheScan™ values your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe.
Local Storage Only
The SheScan™ Chrome Extension stores user settings and preferences locally on your device using Chrome’sstorageandactiveTabpermissions. No personal data or browsing history is transmitted to external servers.
No Data Collection or Sale
SheScan™ does not collect, sell, rent, or share any personal information, browsing history, search queries, or purchase data with third parties. All product scanning and matching logic runs entirely within the extension or via anonymized public APIs.
Extension Session Cookie
When the SheScan™ browser extension asks our servers whether a brand is verified, we set a single first-party cookie onshescan.appnamedshescan_ext_session— a random 30-day identifier used only to de-duplicate scan telemetry (so five views of the same page count as one session). It is set with Partitioned (CHIPS), meaning each retailer site gets its own isolated cookie jar — the identifier cannot be used to follow you across amazon.com, target.com, or any other site. We store the session ID alongside the retailer host and brand string only. No account, no email, no purchase data, no browsing history.
Permissions
The extension requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function:
activeTab— to read the current page content for product matching while you browsestorage— to save your preferences, scan history, and impact tracker locally
Google Web Store Compliance
SheScan™ is fully compliant with the Google Web Store Developer Program Policies. We do not use remote code, deceptive practices, or excessive permissions. All functionality is transparent and user-beneficial.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
